Air Transportation

MedSTAR Transport is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems and consists of four helicopters with bases strategically located throughout the mid-Atlantic region to transport any critical care cardiac patients, as well as heart and hand trauma patients.

Ground Transportation

MedStar Health partners with All American Ambulance whose services include basic and advanced life support and specialty care transports into or out of any MedStar Health facility.

Our Communications Center is available 24/7 to facilitate arrangements in moving patients from outlying facilities to MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute locations, including the region’s highly regarded heart hospital, MedStar Washington Hospital Center. We will expedite the referral, coordinate the transport and locate an admitting physician.

Physicians who would like to transfer their patients to MedStar Union Memorial Hospital for any cardiovascular procedure, can call the Heartline at 410-554-2332. This line is answered 24/7 by an experienced staff trained to handle a physician’s transfer requests and obtain all the information required to complete the transfer. If necessary, referring physicians can also request to speak with a physician regarding their patient’s transfer.
